Hahei Marine Reserve monitoring will be conducted between October and November 2005. In this study we will be quantifying habitats within the marine reserve and adjacent non-reserve areas.

In November 2005, we will be starting a preliminary round of harvesting of the laminarian alga Ecklonia radiata at both Leigh, north-eastern New Zealand, and Waihau Bay, East Cape. The project will investigate the effects of harvesting Ecklonia radiata on recovery rates, downstream effects and associated impacts.
