Dr. Tim Haggitt is director and CEO of Coastal and Aquatic Systems Ltd. Dr. Haggitt holds a BSc in Botany and Zoology, a MSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and a PhD in Environmental and Marine Science from the University of Auckland.

Dr. Haggitt has 8 years experience in marine consulting and research and provides specialist advice on habitat quantification, single species quantification, the design and application of monitoring programmes in order to detect impacts / effects, audits of marine sampling programmes and habitat restoration. Dr. Haggitt is experienced in presenting expert witness evidence for resource consents and environment court hearings.

Dr. Haggitt's principle area of research expertise lies in kelp forest demography and subtidal community ecology. This has led to three published papers in international journals. Present research interests include investigating physical factors that limit algal distribution and determine habitat boundaries, concomitant with restoration of kelp forest habitat.

Shaw Mead (BSc, MSc (Hons), PhD)

Dr. Shaw Mead has a background in coastal oceanography and marine ecology, specialising in hydrodynamic numerical modelling, coastal processes, offshore submerged reefs, coastal amenity enhancement and ecological assessment, allowing him to effectively bridge the multi-disciplinary gap between physical processes and marine ecological impacts.

Dr. Mead has 10 years experience in marine research and consulting, has published 27 peer-reviewed scientific papers, has solely or jointly produced over 100 technical reports pertaining to marine ecology, coastal oceanography and aquaculture. Dr. Mead has undertaken hundreds of research SCUBA dives around the coast of New Zealand, and is affiliated to the New Zealand Marine Science Society and the New Zealand Coastal Society (IPENZ). Dr. Mead is also experienced at presenting expert witness evidence in environment court and resource consent hearings, as well as public meetings and seminars.
